Alphawest Services announced it has been selected to provide Victoria's largest regional passenger transport operator, V/Line, a range of IT Managed Services across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
V/Line operates over 1,248 rail services across 81 railway stations and 592 coach services every week across regional Victoria, while having a requirement to operate 96% of services as scheduled.
With demanding operational targets set and monitored by the Victorian Government, V/Line needed an IT Services partner who had the technical capability, proven track record, cultural alignment and commitment to achieve long term benefits for both organisations.
Alphawest will provide V/Line with continuous 24x7 monitoring and management of its core IT infrastructure, full service desk facilities, daily on-site support personnel, desk-side services, backup and disaster recovery services – a perfect fit with its established best practice methodologies and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
With Alphawest being the preferred supplier to manage and monitor V/Line’s core IT infrastructure, the V/Line IT team can focus on developing its IT strategy, plans and architecture. Alphawest will assume a guardianship role for the operational and delivery aspects for V/Line.
Alphawest’s Chief Executive Officer, Garry Henley said, “Being selected by V/Line is another example of how our innovation and flexible approach is delivering real business value to the Victorian Government, its agencies and other clients Australia-wide.
"Following recent Managed Services wins, this selection by V/Line confirms our approach has the breadth of technical support capabilities and commercial flexibility to support discerning clients.”
This multi-year relationship with V/Line follows the win with fellow Victorian transport service provider Connex Melbourne, whereby Alphawest will deliver a range of IT Services within a similar operational environment.
David Chapman-Kelly, Company Secretary and Corporate Counsel, V/Line Passenger Pty Ltd said, “Following an extensive review of tender responses by V/Line management and a recommendation to the Board of Directors of V/Line, we are delighted to announce that Alphawest will be preferred supplier of IT Services for V/Line for a three year period under the terms of the agreement.”
John Lee, Executive General Manager, V/Line Passenger Pty Ltd also said, “The Alphawest response documentation and presentations made by the team were of such high quality and calibre. Alphawest further demonstrated the commitment and capability to help us meet our operational targets and during our extensive evaluation process we were continually impressed by the level of commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by Alphawest personnel at all levels to both our business and their existing customers.”
