Alphawest today announced it has been selected by La Trobe University to upgrade its records management system to support the development of a Corporate Information Program.  La Trobe University prides itself on being an internationally recognised leader in the provision of high quality education and training underpinned by a strong research profile.

Alphawest will be working with La Trobe University to continue the upgrade from its existing paper-based system to an electronic document management system based on TRIM Context™ by TOWER Software. The upgrade encompasses requirements to support the University’s strategic aim in developing a true Corporate Information Program.

Alphawest provided the business analysis then designed the system in conjunction with the La Trobe University’s project team. Alphawest also provided technical advice regarding the required IT infrastructure, training, and user acceptance testing, and then worked with the Records Management team at La Trobe to migrate the data from the previous system.

TRIM Context has been installed across three business units within the University – the Faculty Office (Law and Management), Records Services Unit and Legal Services Unit.

“La Trobe issued a tender and considered various solutions before choosing TRIM Context and Alphawest as the provider. We chose Alphawest because of their expertise in delivering electronic records management solutions. The team provided invaluable support and guidance throughout the evaluation process and the pilot program,” said Haydn Blennerhassett, Manager – Records Services, La Trobe University. “We were extremely impressed with the implementation of TRIM Context to support our Corporate Information Program. From this implementation we are aiming to further deploy TRIM Context to support critical business processes performed by the University.”

“Alphawest has significant focus and experience in developing and implementing integrated business solutions in the Education Sector.  The recognisable benefits of introducing enterprise-wide information management applications can substantially improve the availability and accessing of important disparate business information,“ said Garry Henley, Chief Executive Officer, Alphawest.

La Trobe University’s Haydn Blennerhassett said, “We are already finding in early days of post implementation the benefits derived from supporting digital records, with particular improvements on finding and retrieving information, less time spent by staff in handling records, and confidence in maintaining the integrity of digital records.

“La Trobe University is now in a position to deploy TRIM Context in a manner that can support business processes from a records management perspective, which will support staff in performing their daily tasks. TRIM integrates with the University’s desktop applications and can capture a variety of information including emails, enabling the University to keep good record management practices.”
