Alphawest (ASX:ALW) announced it has commenced work with Hitachi Data Systems on a two year contract to provide Optus with monitoring and management services in Sydney and Brisbane.
The contract includes 24x7 system management functions, service desk, and back-up and recovery services. It will grow as the managed environments expand. All system management functions are performed from the Alphawest Network Operations Centre and National Support Centre to deliver services to Hitachi Data Systems and Optus based upon Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management processes.

Since the work started, Alphawest has successfully transitioned the monitoring and management of the two environments. Alphawest has also started providing management, recovery, service desk capabilities for Windows, HP/UX, Linux and Solaris servers, VERITAS NetBackup and Quantum 720 slot tape units.

The success of this project with Hitachi Data Systems and Optus strengthens the portfolio of national clients being supported by Alphawest’s Managed Services offerings known as Smart ServicesTM.
Alphawest’s Smart Services include Service Desk, network infrastructure management, application management, disaster recovery and maintenance.
