Alphawest is delighted to announce that Sun Microsystems recently selected Alphawest as its ‘preferred partner’ in the Education market.

Sun Microsystems is firmly established in the Education and Research arena and was looking for a trusted partner who could add value and assist in growing this marketplace.  Alphawest and Sun already have a proven track record of success as partners in the Australian marketplace, one that has been strengthened through the educational partnership.

Sun recognised the benefits Alphawest would bring to the partnership:

  • A National presence, which is crucial in the execution of Sun's strategy in partnering for growth nationally. Alphawest is a 100% Australian owned enterprise and is well positioned in the Government space nationally; delivering around 50% of our current business.
  • A significant understanding of Sun Microsystems, its business and the organisation established over a period of more than 15 years.
  • Extensive experience in the Education sector with the ability to adapt and enhance our sales and delivery structure in support of the education industry. This is possible because Alphawest is owned and controlled by the senior management team, who already understand the benefits of a Sun partnership and are committed to building the relationship into one of our key market strengths.
  • A fully operational national Sun Service Manager Centre audited by Sun.
  • We offer Sun's Education clients complimentary solutions for e-solutions, document and records management, knowledge management, content management, security, storage, business continuity, thin client computing, managed services and a national call centre.
  • Alphawest invests heavily in training. We have attained the highest accreditations with all our vendors.
  • Through our broad experiences with Sun hardware and the Sun ONE software solution set we are able to articulate the end-to-end architectural advantage of Sun.
  • We have the systems in place to efficiently and effectively fulfil client requirements.

“We believe that a successful partnership will be built upon mutual respect for each organisation’s core competencies, an open relationship and a sensible approach to engaging the Education marketplace which has unique requirements and an understandable desire to maintain a very close direct relationship with Sun,” said Orla Brown, Alphawest’s National Manager - Education. “Alphawest has not been appointed to replace Sun’s relationship with their clients, but to enhance the Sun relationship in this market.”

“Sun can be assured, that they have selected a committed partner as their preferred partner into the Education marketplace,” Orla continued. “Alphawest is fully committed to Education in Australia and has committed the necessary resources to guarantee a successful result.”
