Position: Chief Executive Officer Location: Melbourne, Victoria
Rob Parcell is responsible for all aspects of Alphawest’s business including sales, operations and delivery. Alphawest, which Optus acquired in 2005, has experienced significant growth since its integration with Optus and is now one of the top ten IT services companies in Australia.
Rob will focus on continuing that growth by leveraging the synergies of the combined Optus and Alphawest businesses to provide innovative solutions to its corporate and government customer base.
Rob previously held the position of Director of the Southern Region with Optus. Rob led Optus’ Southern operations focusing on all aspects of Victoria’s, South Australia’s, Western Australia’s and Tasmania’s IT&T needs – with particular attention given to the corporate and Government sectors.
Prior to moving to Victoria in 2003 to lead Optus’ operations in the state, Rob was the Director of Optus’ Corporate Business division where he was responsible for the operations and management of the division in Australia and New Zealand as well as growing market share in the large corporate market segment.
Rob has developed his managerial and technical skills through a wide variety of roles at Optus, and its predecessor, AUSSAT – regularly travelling between Sydney and Melbourne.
His immediate previous role was Director, Voice & Data Marketing, which saw Rob develop and maintain product capabilities for the corporate business market.
Part of this role was to plan for the future of Optus Business – developing the business unit’s ‘last mile’ access strategy, and voice, data, Internet Protocol and e-solutions portfolios.
Before commencing with Optus Business, Rob managed a company-wide business process re-engineering program to great success.
His team diagnosed business processes, developed future visions for Optus and implemented initiatives to achieve efficiencies and process improvements. The program was ultimately responsible for delivering in excess of $100 million EBITDA during 1998 / 1999.
Since joining Optus in 1992, Rob has been involved in sales, sales management and marketing management. While at AUSSAT, he worked in various technical roles – designing and implementing communications networks via satellite.
